Hooray! I told you I was working on a picture of Zuko, right? Here he is in the next in the series of my A:TLA drawings. (Aang was the first: [link] ) Just like Aang, I imagine he's ten or so years older here than in the series, and doing some solo practice. Aang's picture was much more meditative; I think Zuko would be a little bit angry, even when he's supposed to be calmly practicing.

Unlike Aang, I didn't have any reference for older Zuko, since he hasn't made an appearance in Korra yet. (Maybe in the season finale?!) I ended up basing his design mostly on his appearance in The Promise comics. I reallyyy wish I could have done Zuko with shaggy hair, but he seems to wear it up all the time now, so. Oh well!

I'm really, really happy with the way this one came out. I worked on this for a solid forty or so hours over the last 4 days (a long and ridiculous process you can see documented here: [link] ). I struggled a lot with the colors and his face.

Oh, and I almost forgot! Does his pose look familiar to some of you? Well, it should if you're a fan of Tony Jaa and the Ong Bak movies! It's referenced from the poster of Ong Bak 3, although I changed Zuko's arms a bit to make it look less like Muay Thai and more like Zuko's Northern Shaolin style. I swear, I took like, twenty photos of myself and my boyfriend trying to get his fist to look right, and all I have to say for it is I don't know how Zuko does it so easily. Super uncomfortable!
